The family of Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen
was detained at Knifepoint in their London home while playing in the Champions
League last Tuesday.

The player's wife and two young children were at
their home in Hampstead when four men wearing hoods broke in shortly before 8
p.m. as the Spurs' game against RB Leipzig in Germany began.
Vertonghen was an unused substitute in the Spurs'
3-0 defeat in their last 16 games, which saw them come out of the competition
4-0 in total. We supported Vertonghen and his family during this awfully
painful time," said a Spurs spokesperson.
"We encourage anyone with information to come
forward to assist the police in their investigation."
Officers were present. It was reported that four men
wearing hoods, armed with knives, broke into the property and stole several
items before leaving.
No one was injured. The suspects had left before the
police arrived. There have been no arrests and investigations are continuing. Vertonghen
became the last footballer to be targeted by criminals.

29, was away with his family before his team's match with Southampton when
looters broke into his house in south-west London. They would have lost
valuables worth more than £ 500,000 (2.25 million dirhams) during the raid.
