Tony Watt explained his need for stability in Champions League

Tony said I have to be somewhere for a while - I tried to do it in St Johnstone last year but, for a couple of reasons, it didn't work. I was lucky with the installation at Motherwell, back in Scotland after my stay in Bulgaria, with them in third place.

I have to be in a club for two years - at a minimum. If I can play well enough, I have to be somewhere to make a mark rather than having this untapped potential.

Tony has played with far too many clubs in the past. To put things in perspective, he has played for 10 different teams since his last game with Celtic. The time in Bulgaria, England and Belgium have come and gone without stability.

Motherwell, however, offered Watt a lucky reprieve. After his failure at St Johnstone and CSKA Sofia, things looked bleak. He had not impressed both Hearts and Saints in the Premiership in recent years. The fact that Stephen Robinson saw something in him must give him confidence in his abilities.

However, at the same time, it looks like the last chance fair. Watt was almost a bit of a vagabond when it came to his football career. With someone of his raw pace and his power as a youngster, his lack of achievements turned out to be a disappointment.

If the current health crisis eases and we can finish the current campaign, Watt could even play in European football next year. It would be a huge stage to showcase his talents.

It is important to remember that Watt is only 26 years old too. He still has great years ahead of him with his first to arrive. It must do so at least at the Premiership level.

Only goals and performances will help him extend his stay at Fir Park. With two hits so far, however, he is on the right track.
